Does solar farm pay off in Poland?

Ostania aktualizacja 7 March 2023

Does solar farm pay off in Poland? Not only tourists and vacationers spending their free days at the Polish sea or charming lakes can enjoy the beautiful summer. Homeowners can also enjoy it because beautiful weather can significantly reduce their energy bills. All thanks to solar farm.

The sun is a source of unlimited energy and, contrary to what it may seem, Polish climate conditions allow investment in solar farms to pay off. Few people who are just beginning to be interested in solar energy know that solar panels also work in the winter. Even when the day is short and the sky is cloudy, solar panels collect sunlight breaking through the clouds. Therefore, before we decide to invest in solar farms, it is worth to carefully look at the operation of the installation. This will allow you to realistically assess how much you can save on your electricity bill. So what is the profitability of such investments and why do we need an audit?

Solar installation and investment profitability

The most important criterion is a properly selected solar installation. If everything is chosen correctly, it can effectively reduce the cost of electricity bills. The most favorable situation for the user is, of course, the one in which the amount of electricity produced completely covers the household demand for it. In most homes that decided to use solar installations, there was a rapid decline in the value of electricity bills due to the production and use of their own energy, in some households these costs fell by up to 95% of the annual electricity costs.

In addition to visible monthly savings on electricity bills, photovoltaics also protect against constant increases in energy prices. There is currently a huge debate in Poland about electricity prices. According to information from the Polish government, in the coming year they will remain at the level from previous years. However, it is worth paying attention to the fact that suppliers report the need to raise prices by about 20-30%, which may mean that in the near future we will see a high price increase. When we produce electricity in our own micro-installations using photovoltaics, we can use the energy produced on an ongoing basis. In addition, the owner of such an installation has the option to collect every kilowatt hour (from surpluses produced) from the power plant during the accounting year. It is worth noting that he does not incur additional distribution fees for this reason. Settlements with the power company take place on the basis of discounts.

Before we make decisions, it is worth conducting an audit

In order for our home mini power plant to be properly selected and installed, it is worth conducting an energy audit before examining the existing electrical installation. Such an energy audit is primarily a specialized technical and economic documentation, whose main task is to answer the question whether the investor pays off such investment in solar farms. Performing at least a basic audit, we gain knowledge thanks to which you can effectively choose the power of the installation for electricity consumption and predict and plan the installation method. Although energy audit is not mandatory for private investors who want to use solar farm in their own home, it is worth using it because it allows you to properly design and perform solar installation. This is a guarantee of its efficiency and profitability. Many solar panel companies provide audit services for free. When planning a larger investment, it is worth commissioning such an audit to a professional company, then we can be sure of proper inspection and implementation of the technical plan, which will give a reliable answer whether in our case solar farm pays off.

Summarizing

In Poland, the number of solar installations increases every year. The reason is not only the growing awareness of users and the growing concern for the natural environment. An argument for investing in solar farm is also its profitability and, above all, rising electricity prices. An investment in a home photovoltaic installation can bring a lot of savings to the user in the home budget. However, it is very important not to be fooled by the low price, poor installation quality. The high cost of photovoltaics primarily reflects the quality of the entire system. Before we decide on a specific solution, a specialized audit should be carried out, which will allow us to assess whether, in our case, solar farms pay off at all. Before installing the system, ask the supplier if all devices, protections, cabling and switchboards meet strict standards and have all necessary certificates. Thanks to this, we can avoid problems with system failure or insufficient energy consumption. It is worth remembering when planning an investment in solar farm in the near future.
